The Great Debaters - the great Mr. Washington

When I realized that The Great Debaters was finally being played in my local town, I couldn't wait to see it. So I did, alone on a Saturday afternoon, in a half-empty room, with a crowd of senior Caucasians, which is fine and dandy but makes me questions how come nobody seems concerned or interested by this marvelous movie featuring two of the best actors of our time, inspired by a story which resonates in the core of modern civilization? Possibly because of the common denominator: brown skin.

The movie was remarkable, I wish I could do it justice by using sophisticated adjectives to describe it but I'm afraid I'll fail. Mr. Washington recruited the help of some of the finest young actors who obviously take their craft very seriously and are able to steal the scene from the creme de la creme of Hollywood.

Just go see it; support the art, cherish our history so it may be told time and time again so never to forget. But bottom line, it's a darn great movie

Oh yeah, I have a crush on Nate Parker - his intellect and depth transpires through the movie screen ;)
